Rise of the Governor is a spin-off of the Walking Dead graphic novels. Unlike the original series, Rise of the Governor is not a comic but a novel. The story follows Philip Blake, his little daughter Penny, his brother Brian and his two friends Nick and Bobby as they are struggling to survive the zombie apocalypse.
Their search for a rumored safe zone leads them from their hometown Waynesboro to Atlanta and across Georgia, always on guard against zombies and other survivors, for resources like food and weapons are rare and sought-after.
Fans of the Walking Dead know that their quest won’t end well… but I still couldn’t help rooting for them. A thrilling must-read for everyone interested in the back-stories of Walking Dead characters.
