Our universities are still essentially artifacts from the Renaissance period, representative of a time when the model citizen could wield the pen, the plow, and the protractor with equal aptitude. And that’s a good thing. It makes for interesting, and interested, individuals. But such people will seek out rewarding lives full of meaningful labor.
