The Future is Already Here – Curious Soviet Architecture
Chișinău, the Moldovan city where I was born, strongly expanded during the Soviet time and shows some signs of the typical Soviet architecture. I collected the most remarkable examples for the architecture nerds among you ;-)

Wouldn’t you agree it looks just like the evil lord’s palace from an eighties science fiction movie?
Hotel Chișinău, the biggest hotel in the city:

Looks photoshopped, but no, it isn’t.
The Chișinău national circus (yeah, we had one!):

The so-called Chișinău corn cob, a hospital built in 1978:

The construction of this building began during the eighties. Nevertheless, it still looks like that:

There are many similar unfinished constructions in the city.
This is how the Soviet Union imagined the future. Kind of relieved it didn’t turn out that way.
